When a family can discuss those matters in a familiar language, it is easier to ask questions and identify misunderstandings before documents are signed.
Language support is more than translation
A word-for-word translation does not always explain a family’s traditions, relationships, or expectations. Good guidance includes listening carefully, confirming meaning, and coordinating with clergy or community leaders when the family requests it.
Ask for clarity on important decisions
- Who has authority to make arrangements and sign authorizations
- Which services are selected, required, or optional
- What each price includes and which costs are paid to third parties
- What documents are needed and when they are due
- How religious, cultural, cemetery, crematory, or transportation requirements affect timing
Horizon’s language capabilities
Horizon assists families in English, Spanish, Russian, Armenian, and Georgian. For specialized documents or a destination-country requirement, a separate certified translator or consular process may still be necessary. We will identify that need rather than treating conversational assistance as certified translation.
Prepare names and documents carefully
Names may appear differently across passports, immigration records, marriage documents, and translated records. Review spelling, dates, and transliteration before documents are finalized, especially for international transportation.
